So I’ve now completed 10 weeks of detox/supplements/anti-inflammatory diet. To date I’ve lost 22 lbs (without exercising at all). I had labs run at 8 weeks and they showed a remarkable improvement! My insulin is down, cortisol is up, estrogen up, DHEA up. But testosterone is still very low–even lower than before. Progesterone is still low. T3 is still low.
So my coach referred me to a functional medicine doctor he works closely with. The doc is actually an ER doctor, an elite athlete, and 60+ years old. He does his functional health practice on the side (self pay only, no insurance) because he is very interested in holistic medicine, optimal health, and anti-aging. I met with him yesterday and liked him very much.
The plan is for me to begin using bio-identical hormones–testosterone and progesterone creams. And to lower my Synthroid from 150mcg to 100mcg and add T3.
I’m pretty stoked at the prospect of being really and truly *healthy* after years of just surviving. The doc was surprised I’m doing as well as I am given everything I’ve been through, and complimented me on my self discipline and the hard work I’ve done to get better. It felt good to be recognized by him.
I finally have enough energy to start doing some light exercise, so I’m going to start walking and doing yoga. The weather here in the Northeast is very cold and dreary right now, but I’m looking forward to feeling good by the time the weather warms up.
I’m not overly vain IMO, like I rarely wear make up or dress up. But my “self care” now includes regular botox. Probably some type of facial peel. Some teeth whitening and braces (invisalign?). I have a gift certificate from last year (pre-pandemic) to have my eyebrows microbladed. I wanted 2020 to be the year I got myself together, but that’s ok. I’m plugging away to make 2021 a transformational year physically/mentally/spiritually.
