So I was in the *natural foods* store of all places and I saw THIS:

First Response Fertility Test

It instructs you to take it on CD3 and it measures your FSH levels. I *cringed* when I saw it because reading  the words “Are you able to get pregnant?” felt like a slap in the face. I thought we were friends, First Response–now, not so much. WTELF? What do you ladies think of this? Am I the last one to know about this?

  1. I had no idea that this exists!!! Is this really a good idea for women to be able to find out at home without proper understanding of the implications of a bad test? And what if it’s bad and you cannot get a referral for a test until you’ve tried unsuccessfully for year (that’s what would probably happen where I live)… Oh I have so many questions and thoughts running through my head right now. In many ways I can see it as being a good thing, but at the same it seems rather frightening to me!

  2. I got one of these free many years ago inside a pack of FRER HPT. I guess it makes sense for the other 88% who need reassurance, or the women still in the 6mo to a year of TTC in the dark. I would hope it wouldn’t lead someone to wait longer to see a doctor just because the stupid pee stick said she could get pregnant…
